The American Dental Associate Reports on the 3 Top Oral Health Issues

We understand that suffer from oral health issues can have a massive impact on your way of life. We believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so we are always trying to teach our patient how they can live a healthier life in terms of oral hygiene. But when oral health issues do occur, we fix them quickly and effectively. Recently, the American Dental Association released the results of a 15,000-person survey which uncovered the top 3 oral health issues in America.

Dry Mouth

Dry Mouth, also known as xerostomia, was the top oral health issue in America, facing approximately 33% of individuals who answered the AMA survey. Primarily, dry mouth is the result of insufficient saliva production. Insufficient saliva production can be caused by a wide number of factors, from medical side effects to certain diseases. Minor dry mouth is simply an inconvenience but if the situation is sustained it can lead to tooth decay.

Difficulty Chewing and Biting

31% of responders to the survey reported that they have difficulty chewing and biting. Most of these difficulties were caused by cracked, loose, or decaying teeth. These issues can all be addressed through corrective measures, but preventive measure are always preferred. Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day, and come in for regular dental appointments.

Reoccurring Tooth Pain

29% of responder reported that they suffered from constant or reoccurring tooth pain. Pain is your bodies way of telling you that something is wrong. If you are suffering from tooth pain, make a dental appointment ASAP!
